Apple Custard Cake

Apple custard cake
No matter how crazily in love with cakes you may be; gradually, everyone gets bored with the same plain, sponge cakes with only a little variation possibility.
So, here we have a super yumi-licious apple custard cake.

All you’d need:
Custard powder pack
2 fresh and crunchy Royal (red) or Fiji (pink) apples
A pinch of cinnamon powder
A zip pouch

Prepare cold pouring vanilla custard as per the instructions on a custard powder pack.

This involves some easy steps like boiling milk, mixing 2 tablespoons of custard powder in cold milk and then adding the mixture to the boiled (still hot) milk. Sugar also needs to be added to the custard mix. Once the custard boils, it is ready to be used in a cake, pudding, ice cream or whatsoever your imagination allows!

Meanwhile, peel, core and thinly slice the apples.

Now here’s a quick trick. Pick up a zip-lock freezer pouch. Put the apple slices, 2 tsp sugar, a pinch of cinnamon and a spoon full of water in the zip pouch.
Microwave it for a minute and a half. Your apple slices will turn soft and mushy.
In the meantime, pour the cold custard on a plain sponge cake and cover the top and all sides. Allow standing time for 15 minutes so that the custard is set on the cake.

Now carefully remove the apple slices from the zip pouch and arrange them on the cake’s top.  Do not forget to add a cherry in the middle, because that will complete the look of the all-yellow cake.  I know its missing in the display pic, as before I could click the picture, my daughter quickly picked the cherry from the middle and ate it J
